Overview
Proper preparation ensures your installation goes quickly and without complications. Whether you’re doing a DIY setup or booked for White-Glove Installation, completing these steps before your scheduled date helps prevent rescheduling or delays.
🧱 Step 1: Check Your Surface
Ensure the installation area is level and stable — within ±5 mm (¼ inch).
The surface must be structurally sound (concrete, pavers with footers, or deck framing).
Remove any soft soil, grass, or debris.
If installing on pavers, confirm concrete footers are in place before installation day.
📦 Step 2: Verify All Boxes Have Arrived
Each pergola or awning ships in multiple boxes labeled by number (e.g., Box 1 of 8).
Confirm you’ve received all boxes listed on your shipping confirmation.
Store them in a dry, accessible area close to the installation site.
Avoid opening boxes until installers arrive, unless you are DIY assembling.
⚡ Step 3: Plan for Power Access
If your setup includes motors, lighting, or heaters:
Ensure a dedicated power outlet or circuit is available near the pergola.
Hire a licensed electrician in advance to connect electrical components.
Keep the outlet area accessible on installation day.
🚪 Step 4: Clear the Work Area
Move furniture, planters, grills, or décor away from the installation zone.
Allow at least 3 ft (1 m) of clearance around the pergola footprint.
Ensure installers have a clear path for carrying long components.
📸 Step 5: Take Photos
Taking pre-installation photos helps document surface conditions and can assist if future adjustments or warranty claims are needed.
☀️ Step 6: Prepare for Weather
Installers cannot work during heavy rain, lightning, or high winds.
If rain is expected, be ready to reschedule to the next clear day.
🧾 Step 7: Review Your Installation Agreement
If you purchased White-Glove Installation:
Confirm the scheduled time and estimated duration.
Verify whether concrete footers or accessory add-ons were included in your quote.
Have your order number handy in case of questions.
