Overview
Installing on decks or pavers can look great — but each surface type needs proper anchoring for strength, stability, and warranty protection. Hanso Pergolas are engineered to handle these conditions when installed correctly.
🪵 Installing on Decks
You can mount your pergola on wood or composite decks, as long as:
The subframe or joists are structurally sound and can support the load.
Posts are anchored directly to the deck framing, not just the surface boards.
All bolts go through solid wood or metal framing members.
Recommended practice:
Use through-bolts with backing plates under each post for maximum stability. Avoid lag bolts unless approved by your contractor.
🧱 Installing on Pavers
Pavers can shift under heavy loads unless reinforced.
Install concrete footers or pads beneath each post location for secure anchoring.
Alternatively, use long sleeve anchors drilled through pavers into the underlying concrete.
Never mount directly to loose sand-set or floating pavers — it will not hold structural load.
📏 Level & Drainage
Before installation:
Ensure the surface is level within ±5 mm (¼ inch).
Check drainage to prevent standing water under posts.
Clean the area of debris and sand to prevent misalignment.
⚙️ Installer Tip
If your deck or paver setup is unique (uneven, raised, or over waterproof membranes), share clear photos with our team before installation. Hanso engineers can advise whether extra reinforcement is needed.
⚠️ Warranty Reminder
Improper anchoring or mounting on unstable surfaces can void warranty coverage for wind and load resistance. Always follow Hanso’s Foundation & Mounting Requirements guide.
