Apex Motorized Sunshades | Wiring and Connection Guide

How Apex motorized sunshades are connected, routed and tested, plus power preparation and installation scope.

Motorized sunshades for Apex

Apex is the only Hanso pergola model with motorized sunshades and sunshade electrical wiring. PRO+ and Horizon sunshades are manually operated and have no sunshade motor or power cable.

This guide explains the electrical connection and installation checks for Apex motorized sunshades.

What the installer will connect

Each motorized sunshade has a motor and electrical lead. The installer connects the sunshade using the supplied cables, extensions and matching connections for the Apex pergola and sunshade configuration.

The louver motor, lighting and sunshades have their own connection arrangements. The installer will use the matching Apex wiring diagram and connector labels to identify each connection.

How the cables are routed

The route depends on the sunshade’s position and the Apex frame configuration. Cables are guided along the designated route toward the appropriate connection point and secured away from moving parts, sharp edges and pinch points.

The installation must leave designed drainage paths clear and allow covers to close without trapping a cable. The supplied connectors and specified extensions are used to complete the route without stretching a lead or placing strain on its connector.

Preparing power for the visit

Please provide an existing suitable outdoor outlet within reach of the pergola’s supplied power lead. If you need a new outlet or circuit, arrange this with a licensed electrician before installation. Your electrician should include the sunshades and other powered accessories when assessing the electrical load.

Standard installation does not include hardwiring, new outlets or circuits, trenching, underground wiring or other electrical alterations unless these are included in a separate agreed scope.

Alternative cable routes

If you want a different power-cable exit location, tell Hanso before the visit. The proposed route must be assessed for your Apex pergola and explained to you, including any drilling, cable protection, sealing, appearance changes and agreed charges. Your written agreement is required before a permanent modification.

Completion and testing

Once the electrical connections and covers are secure, the installer will test each installed motorized sunshade using its control, demonstrate operation and check that its cable remains clear during movement. They will also test the pergola functions included in the agreed scope.

If a sunshade does not operate correctly, or a cable or connector is damaged, the installer should stop and contact Hanso Support before further use. Disconnect power before accessing or servicing electrical components.
