Electrical supply for your pergola or awning
The electrical supply powers the motorized features and installed electrical accessories on your pergola or awning. The supplied power lead, power supply and equipment labels identify the connection and input rating for your system.
Pergola and sunshade operation
Pergola | Louver operation | Sunshades |
PRO+ | Manual or motorized, depending on the version ordered | Manual, with no sunshade wiring |
Horizon | Motorized | Manual, with no sunshade wiring |
Apex | Motorized | Motorized sunshades have electrical wiring |
A pergola with manual louvers may still use electricity for lighting or other powered accessories. Retractable electric awnings require power for their motor and controls.
Household supply and low-voltage connections
Apex and Horizon louver motors and LED lighting operate at 24 V DC through the supplied power system. The household electrical supply connects to the power system’s input; the motor and lighting use its low-voltage connections.
Use the input voltage, frequency and current or power rating shown on the supplied equipment when preparing the supply. The electrician should also include the requirements of any heaters or other powered accessories.
Outlets and circuit capacity
For the listed base Apex and Horizon pergola systems, the manufacturer’s electrical response does not require a separate outlet or circuit for each power-post designation. The supplied connection arrangement determines the actual power connections.
Accessories can add electrical load. A licensed electrician should assess the total connected equipment and confirm the outlet arrangement, circuit capacity, grounding and required protection. Separate or dedicated circuits may be needed for the accessories and site.
Position the outlet within the usable reach of the supplied lead, allowing slack so the cable and connectors are not under tension. Contact Hanso Support before outlet installation if you need the connection location confirmed for your model and mounting configuration.
Electrical work and installation scope
Standard installation includes assembly and functional testing using the supplied connections and an existing suitable outlet. New outlets, circuits, hardwiring, trenching, underground wiring and other electrical alterations must be arranged separately with a licensed electrician unless included in an agreed additional scope.
Safe operation
Keep cables protected from sharp edges, moving parts, pinching and water exposure. Disconnect power before servicing electrical components. If wiring is damaged or a connection becomes wet, stop using the affected equipment and contact Hanso Support.
