Is the Apex Pergola Motorized?

Learn what to expect from the Apex Pergola’s motorized design, including adjustable louvers, remote-controlled operation, LED lighting, power requirements, and why Apex does not come in a manual version.

Yes. The Apex Pergola is a fully motorized pergola.

All Apex Pergolas include motorized adjustable louvers and integrated LED lights. Apex does not have a manual version.

Apex was formerly known as Master+. Some older manuals, packaging, labels, or support materials may still use the Master+ name.

What does motorized mean?

Motorized means the pergola louvers are adjusted using the included control system instead of being moved manually.

With Apex, you can open or close the louvers to help control:

  • Sunlight

  • Shade

  • Airflow

  • Outdoor comfort

  • Rain coverage

The louvers can be adjusted depending on how much coverage or ventilation you want at the time.

Does Apex have a manual version?

No. Apex does not come in a manual version.

If you are looking at Apex, please note that all Apex models require power for the motorized louver system and integrated LED lights.

What can I control?

Depending on your Apex setup, the control system may allow you to operate:

  • The motorized roof louvers

  • Integrated LED lights

  • Compatible motorized accessories, if applicable

Control options may vary depending on the model, accessory setup, and installation.

Integrated LED lights

Apex includes integrated LED lights built into the pergola design.

The LED lights help make the outdoor space more usable in the evening and can be used for:

  • Outdoor dining

  • Lounging

  • Ambient lighting

  • Better visibility under the pergola

Because the LED lights are part of the motorized system, power access must be considered before installation.

Power requirements

Apex requires electrical access for the motorized louvers and integrated LED lights.

Before installation, confirm that:

  • Power is available near the installation area

  • The electrical setup is suitable for the pergola

  • Any required hardwiring is handled by a qualified electrician

  • The installation team or contractor understands the power location before starting

Hanso installers can test the product using a nearby outlet when applicable, but electrical hardwiring is not included unless specifically stated in your installation scope.

What if the power goes out?

If there is no power, the motorized functions may not operate until power is restored.

Because Apex is motorized, the louvers are not intended to be manually forced open or closed. Forcing the louvers may damage the motor or mechanism.

Important note before ordering

Before ordering Apex, make sure a motorized pergola is suitable for your space.

Please review:

  • Power access

  • Installation surface

  • Freestanding or wall-mounted setup

  • Clearance requirements

  • Accessory needs

  • HOA or permit requirements, if applicable

For complex electrical or installation conditions, we recommend consulting a qualified contractor or electrician before installation.
