Pairing a New Dooya Remote to Your Awning

Step-by-step guide on how to pair a new Dooya remote with your Hansø motorized awning, including both power-cycle and clone pairing methods.

Updated this week

🔧 Overview

If you’ve purchased a new Dooya remote or need to replace a lost or faulty one, follow the instructions below to successfully pair it with your Hansø motorized awning.
This guide covers two pairing methods — one for when you have an existing remote, and one for when you don’t.

⚙️ Method 1: Power-Cycle Pairing (No Remote Currently Paired)

Step 1 – Power Cycle the Motor

  1. Cut power to the motor (via breaker or unplug it).

  2. Wait 5 seconds, then restore power.

  3. The motor will jog once (a quick in-and-out movement) to confirm it is in programming mode.

Step 2 – Enter Pairing Mode

  1. Within 10 seconds of restoring power, press and hold the STOP (“–”) button on the new remote for 5 seconds.

  2. The motor will jog again, confirming that the remote is now paired.

⚠️ Tip: If the awning does not respond, repeat the steps carefully, paying attention to the power cycling sequence and motor jog confirmations.

📡 Method 2: Clone Pairing from an Existing Remote (If Old Remote Still Works)

Step 1 – Put Motor in Sync Mode

  1. On the existing remote, press and hold the STOP (“–”) button for 5 seconds until the motor jogs.
→ This puts the motor in sync mode.

Step 2 – Add the New Remote

  1. On the new remote, press and hold the STOP (“–”) button for 5 seconds.

  2. The motor will jog again, confirming successful pairing.

⚠️ Troubleshooting

If pairing fails:

  • Make sure the motor power cycle timing is accurate (2–5 seconds off/on intervals).

  • Check that the remote has a working battery.

  • Ensure you are within operating range of the awning receiver.

  • Retry from the beginning — some motors may require multiple attempts.
