The MASTER+ Pergola can be installed by experienced DIYers, but professional installation is highly recommended to ensure proper anchoring, drainage, and warranty coverage.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

The Hansø MASTER+ Pergola is designed with modular components for simplified assembly — but due to its motorized system, integrated drainage, and precision alignment requirements, Hansø recommends professional installation for best results.
A proper foundation and accurate post leveling are critical to ensure smooth louver movement, water drainage, and long-term stability.

DIY Installation

Homeowner assembles the pergola using Hansø’s step-by-step guide and basic tools.

Skilled DIYers with construction experience

💡 Hansø’s partner installers are trained to assemble, anchor, and connect power according to local codes.

Foundation & Anchoring Requirements

  • Must be installed on a flat, level, and reinforced surface such as concrete or a structural deck.

  • Each post should be secured with four heavy-duty anchors (provided in the hardware kit).

  • Avoid installing on pavers or soil — these surfaces do not provide sufficient stability.

  • Ensure the surface slope (if any) is less than 5mm across 3 meters to maintain proper drainage flow.

📌 Incorrect leveling may lead to water pooling or motor misalignment.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Power drill with metal and masonry bits

  • Level and measuring tape

  • Impact driver or ratchet wrench

  • Anchor bolts (included)

  • Ladder or step platform

  • Silicone sealant (for corner joints)

🧰 Optional: Laser level or string line to ensure perfect beam alignment.

⚠️ Electrical work should be performed by a licensed electrician if you’re not familiar with wiring 110V outdoor systems.

Power & Transformer Setup

  • The transformer and motor wiring are located in Post A1.

  • Simply plug the pergola into a 110–120V outdoor-rated outlet.

  • Keep transformer housing dry and ensure cables are free from tension or pinch points.

  • For concealed setups, an electrician can hardwire the unit through underground conduit.

💡 Do not connect to an extension cord or indoor power source.

Common DIY Mistakes to Avoid

  • Uneven surface or incorrect post spacing

  • Over-tightening beam bolts before full frame alignment

  • Forgetting to connect the gutter drain outlets

  • Pinching or bending the motor cable during assembly

  • Running power before verifying all louvers move freely

When Professional Installation Is Required

  • Mounting on uneven or elevated decks

  • Multiple-bay connections

  • Integrating electrical lighting or accessories (e.g., heaters, sensors)

  • Attaching sunshades or slat walls on all sides

📞 Hansø can connect you with a certified local installer for full setup and testing.

Warranty Note

Hansø’s product warranty remains valid for DIY installations only if the pergola is anchored correctly, powered via a standard outdoor outlet, and assembled according to the official installation manual.
Improper installation or unapproved modifications may void the coverage for structural or electrical components.
