What materials is the MASTER+ Pergola made of?

The MASTER+ Pergola is built from architectural-grade T6 aluminum with a powder-coated finish, stainless steel hardware, and an integrated drainage system — combining strength, durability, and refined design.

Overview

The Hansø MASTER+ Pergola is designed to last for decades with minimal maintenance.
Every component is engineered for outdoor resilience — from the precision-extruded aluminum frame to corrosion-resistant fittings and UV-protected coatings.
This ensures consistent performance and a sleek modern appearance in any climate.

Frame and Structure

  • Made of T6 architectural-grade aluminum, chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to corrosion.

  • Extruded sections are precision-cut and powder-coated for an elegant, long-lasting finish.

  • The frame’s internal channel system conceals fasteners and wiring for a seamless appearance.

  • Reinforced posts and beams enhance rigidity, allowing the structure to handle wind speeds up to 165 mph and snow loads up to 62 psf.

📌 Unlike steel or wood, aluminum won’t rust, warp, or crack — making it ideal for all-weather installations.

Surface Finish

  • Coated with a premium polyester powder paint, cured for enhanced adhesion and UV resistance.

  • The finish prevents fading and chalking, even under prolonged sunlight exposure.

  • Available in two standard Hansø finishes:

    • Pure White (RAL 9010) – a clean, contemporary matte finish.

    • Dark Grey (RAL 7016) – a sleek, architectural tone for modern exteriors.

🎨 Custom touch-up paints in matching RAL codes are available for small surface repairs.

Louvers

  • Constructed from the same T6-grade aluminum with interlocking weather seals.

  • Designed to rotate 0°–100° for precise shade and ventilation control.

  • Each louver is hollow for weight optimization and features integrated water channels to direct rainfall into the gutters.

  • The louver system connects directly to a sealed tubular motor hidden within the gutter beam.

Hardware and Fittings

  • All bolts, screws, and brackets are stainless steel (grade 304 or higher).

  • Rubberized gaskets and polymer seals ensure watertight connections at beam joints.

  • Built-in rubber edging between louvers improves weather sealing and sound dampening.

💡 This combination of materials prevents corrosion and eliminates squeaking or rattle during windy conditions.

Drainage System

  • Fully integrated gutter network routes water from the louvers to the internal post downspouts.

  • Posts contain hidden channels that drain rainwater safely to ground level.

  • The system operates automatically whenever louvers are closed during rainfall.

  • Rainwater is directed to the 13-foot sides of the pergola, where it is channeled through gutters and exits via the four corner posts at the base. This fixed configuration ensures optimal water management and structural integrity.

Modification Restrictions

  • The drainage layout is fixed at the factory and cannot be modified.

  • Altering the system, such as drilling new outlets or redirecting water, may lead to leaks, structural damage, and voiding of the product warranty.

  • If the current configuration does not suit your needs, consider repositioning the pergola to better align with the existing drainage outlets.

Alternative Water Management Solutions

  • Channel or Trench Drains: Collect and redirect water away from the pergola.

  • French Drains: Use a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe to disperse water underground.

  • Gravel Strips: Place gravel at the base of the drainage posts to absorb and disperse water. These solutions help prevent water pooling and protect the surrounding area from water damage.
