What does post-to-post measurement mean?
Post-to-post measurement refers to the distance between pergola posts.
This is important because the post locations determine:
Where the pergola will sit
Where the base plates will be anchored
Whether the pergola will fit your patio, deck, or concrete area
Whether posts may interfere with furniture, doors, stairs, railings, drains, or other obstructions
Do not measure only the roof coverage area. You also need to confirm where the posts and base plates will land.

Apex comes in both single-bay and double-bay sizes.

Do not remove or ignore the base plate and foot plate information from the measurement guide. These details help installers understand how the pergola will be anchored and finished.
Why base plate placement matters
Base plate placement is important because each post must be anchored to a suitable surface.
Before installation, confirm:
The base plates will not sit too close to an edge
The surface is level and stable
The area can be drilled and anchored
The base plates will not interfere with drains, cracks, paver edges, deck seams, or steps
The post locations will not block doors, walkways, furniture, or stairs
Apex cannot simply sit unsecured on the ground. Proper anchoring is required for safety and performance.
Special note for wall-mounted Apex Pergolas
For wall-mounted Apex Pergolas, the post-to-post measurement still matters, but the wall connection also needs to be reviewed.
Before choosing wall-mounted, confirm:
The wall is structurally suitable
There is enough height for attachment
The attachment area is clear of gutters, vents, windows, pipes, trim, or lights
The front post locations have enough space for anchoring
The louvers have enough clearance to open and close
A qualified contractor should review the wall if there are any concerns.
