🧰 Tips for Touching Up Scratches

1. Clean the Area

Use a soft cloth and mild soap to clean the scratched surface thoroughly.
Allow it to dry completely before proceeding.

2. Lightly Sand (Optional)

For deeper scratches or rough edges, lightly sand the affected area to smooth it out before painting.
Use fine-grit sandpaper (400–600 grit) and wipe clean after sanding.

3. Shake the Spray Can

Follow the can’s label instructions — typically, shake for 1–2 minutes to ensure the paint is fully mixed.

4. Apply Light Coats

  • Hold the spray can 8–12 inches away from the surface.

  • Apply 2–3 thin coats in short, even bursts rather than one heavy coat.

  • Allow each coat to dry for 15–30 minutes before reapplying.

5. Allow Proper Drying Time

Let the paint cure for a few hours before touching or reinstalling any pergola parts.
Avoid spraying in high humidity or windy conditions for best results.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Avoid overspray onto nearby louvers or accessories — use painter’s tape or cardboard shielding.

  • Do not use household paints or enamel coatings — they will not adhere properly to powder-coated aluminum.

  • For large paint damage or multiple scratches, contact Hansø Support for replacement touch-up kits.
